Why I won't be following the home interior trends for 2025.

Typically at this point in the year, we start to plan for the New Year and take an interest in what's new, including the home interior trends we will see in 2025.

Retailers must show us what’s different and encourage us to buy new things, and like every one of us I like to look at what's new, having a resurgence, or being cast aside as ‘so 2024’!

It's also important for my job that I know what the home interior trends will be in the coming year, but here are three reasons why I don't follow them.

Traditional tan leather chair, next to a shelve of DVDs with a green and grey stopped Roman blind, and colourful tulip cushion, surrounded by plants.

First and foremost, It's expensive to follow trends. It's the same when following clothing fashion, or the places we are all told we must visit, or be seen in.

Secondly, It’s exhausting. There's always something new, so like a good wardrobe, select a classic capsule collection as your foundation and accessories your home around it.  This will prevent your home from looking dated.

Lastly, It's not individual. I don't want my house to look like everybody elses. I want it to reflect me, my tastes, my adventures, my family, my life.

Every piece has a story. Admittedly, some are more interesting than others, and just in case you are wondering, no, I don't love every item. Some pieces were bought because they were practical, or fitted into a tiny cottage we lived in at the time we purchased them. I work hard to blend those items I must put up with, with the rest of my home interior. One day they may get replaced… but it won't be in 2025.

If you need help making the pieces in your home work together, my styling service can help. Rates are quoted hourly, but bespoke packages can be tailored to your requirements.
